＋For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored 1920s Waterman 52 Black Chased Hard Rubber Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly size, #16 silicone sac. Hand polished the Nickel Plate Clip Cap and Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Ideal 14K #2 NIB.
This fountain pen is made from black hard rubber with chasing. The chasing is very crisp on both the cap and barrel. The coloring has a beautiful black color - one of the best I have seen. The barrel has very crisp imprints at the center and butt end of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG U.S. IDEAL GLOBE PAT. OFF. FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp 52 imprint.
The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no monograms or personalizations on the barrel or cap. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman 52 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 5/8" posted. The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. The Globe and Ideal imprint on the lever is crisp and clean.
When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal NIB, it measured at .75mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra fine line measuring roughly .32mm with very light pressure and flexes up to 2.05mm with normal to medium pressure, I didn't want to overextend the NIB's capabilities. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue - Black Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is an excellent, antique Waterman's 52 Fountain Pen that is in ready to write condition using the incredible flexible NIB. I would grade this Waterman 52 in excellent to near mint condition. A superb writing instrument to add to your collection!
