＋For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1930s Carter's Jet Black Fountain Pen with Flexible NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the rubber sace with a new, properly sized glass-ply sac. Hand polished the gold filled clip, cap and barrel banding. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Carter's Fountain Pen measures 5 3/16" capped and 6 1/4" posted.
The fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The clip, cap and barrel banding are in fabulous condition with no brassing. The gold filled lever has a very minor hint of brassing to the edges. The barrel is stamped with, "CARTER'S PATENTED THE CARTER'S INK CO. BOSTON- NEW YORK - CHICAGO". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.
I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.
The Carter's INX NIB is 14K and generates a great writing experience. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .70mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine/medium to triple broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .59mm and the triple broad measures 1.89mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This vintage Carter's Fountain Pen is a gorgeous example in the Jet Black Celluloid. Carter's made fountain pens from 1924 to 1932 I would consider this Parker to easily grade in Excellent to Near Mint Condition. It is collector grade and is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
